Rooms with character:
Veneer in use at JAF Salzburg Aupoint

Zülpich/Salzburg-Aupoint. With the redesign of the common rooms at the JAF veneer centre in Salzburg Aupoint, veneer is shown at its best: as a material that combines function and atmosphere. High-quality acoustic solutions and selected veneer patterns create an environment that is both visually and technically impressive. At the same time, the project, which uses rustic-looking knotty oak, underlines the central role of Aupoint in the European veneer trade.

Recreation areas need to be more than just functional. They should radiate calm, promote communication and at the same time demonstrate design quality. Aupoint in Salzburg has succeeded in doing just that: the newly designed rooms feature acoustically effective wall coverings and veneers that radiate naturalness and warmth thanks to their grain. The use of fleece-backed veneer decks in knotty oak in particular shows how veneer, with its characteristic appearance, lends individuality and expressiveness to any room.

A location with a signal effect
It is no coincidence that the veneer centre in Salzburg is implementing such a project. Since 1996, the location has been dedicated exclusively to veneer distribution. With its international procurement expertise and its function as a central warehouse, Aupoint has a high status within the JAF Group. More than 150 types of wood are stored here in up to four different veneer thicknesses and numerous grades. In order to meet the increasing demand, the storage area was expanded in 2021 with a spacious hall extension.

Diversity for the industry
Salzburg supplies veneer not only to the Austrian branches, but also to international JAF locations. The customer base ranges from regional craftsmen to the furniture, door and panel industry. Aupoint also supplies special applications in yacht and aircraft interior design as well as manufacturers of veneer edges. This makes the headquarters an important partner for a wide variety of trades that rely on the quality and diversity of this natural material.

Competence that is visible
‘Veneers have been an important part of our product range since our company was founded,' explains site manager Klaus Mittmasser. ‘With our wide range of products and our international network, we can respond flexibly to the requirements of our customers.' The physical warehouse is complemented by digital solutions: the range can also be viewed virtually via ‘Veneer World', the first online shop for veneers with millions of high-resolution images.

The renovation of the common rooms in Salzburg is a project that impressively demonstrates the creative power of veneer. The knotty oak used here is representative of the diversity and beauty of the material. At the same time, the project reminds us that Aupoint is much more than a regional location: it is the heart of JAF's veneer expertise - and thus a key player in the European veneer trade. Dirk-Uwe Klaas, Managing Director of Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN), comments: ‘The redesign of the common rooms at the JAF veneer centre in Salzburg Aupoint once again demonstrates how fine veneer not only enhances rooms, but also creates atmosphere - a prime example of the timeless elegance and versatility of our material.'
